Bats in the Belfry? Let’s Move Them Out

Bats have a bad reputation. Thanks to “Dracula” and Halloween decorations, bats seem scary – even evil.

But bats are, usually, harmless. In fact, bats are vital to our local ecosystem. They help keep the mosquito population in check and eat other creepy-crawly insects. Still, it isn’t healthy for you if you’ve found a bat colony in your home, barn or shed.

Bat waste has a horrible smell and can damage your structure. It may also contain a fungus that can cause diseases in humans. You definitely shouldn’t deal with bat waste by yourself. And don’t pick up bats with your bare hands; they are likely to bite. Few bats carry rabies, but it’s still a threat.

If you’ve found bats in your home, barn or business, call the professionals. Professional pest control companies, like Ark Pest Control, know Tennessee’s laws regarding bats and dealing with an infestation.

Professional pest removers will use protective gear to remove bat waste and will work to humanely encourage the bats to leave your property (this is called bat exclusion). Plus, the professionals will help you seal up any cracks or holes in your building to prevent bats from returning.
