The parson spider is mainly found in central US. Although it may have an intimidating appearance, it’s bite is not venomous to humans and pets. This spider is usually found outside and is most active at night. It does not spin webs, and instead, wanders on the ground in search of prey, and often hides under objects or in clothing during the day.
Most bites from the parson spider occur when it becomes trapped in clothing, and the bite may cause swelling, pain, and can potentially cause an allergic reaction.
