Drain Flies often appear in extremely large numbers. They can become numerous enough to block out windows and lamps, and often accumulate around showers, bathtubs, sinks, and floor drains.

Drain are densely covered in hairs, giving them a moth like appearance. They lay eggs in masses of up to 200, often accumulating around overflow pipes, sewage disposal, septic tanks, or moist compost.

Drain Fly Prevention

Prevention of these flies can include eliminating larval breeding sites from drain sites.
