Larder beetles often appear in large numbers during the spring. They feed off of all sorts of animal products and materials, such as feathers, horn, skins, ham, dried beef, hides, hair, beeswax, pet foods, and other products.
They often enter homes in May and June seeking food, depositing eggs in cracks and crevices in locations near food, such as pantries. They often appear after infestations by cluster flies, or from mice, birds, or squirrels nesting in the walls.
